Alameda Tinder Box

Our island city of Alameda is comprised mostly of beautiful, old Victorian and Craftsman homes. Unfortunately, they burn quickly (and get replaced by ugly misfits.) On a recent sunday afternoon, we witnessed this nearby and up close.

Update Feb 18, 2007: Somebody just posted unsigned flyers all around the neighborhood claiming the likelihood that this house was ignited by a meth lab! The flyer says that the house was completely torn down w/out a proper investigation.

True, it was demolished to rubble within 2 days or so. The flyer goes on to say that there's a cover-up... and asks why? Can't imagine. But that house -- and it's always been unclear whether it was occupied or not -- went up pretty quicklike.
