Custom Plastics

Sometimes we refer to our 6-year-old as Groundscore Hank. He is always watching the ground, looking for loot. He has a special affinity for molded plastic pieces -- not necessarily the 5000 lego pieces in his room but rather "customized" pieces in the wild.

So it was with great interest that I took on the e*PolyStar project. E*PolyStar manufactures custom plastic packaging nearby in San Leandro. My contact there is passionate about the materials and processes and it was fun to see it in action during my photo shoot.   read more »

THREE HEAVIES ON THE RADAR

1. New Power Trio from Fantasyland

News just slipped out that Josh Homme (front man for Boeger favorite Queens of the Stone Age), John Paul Jones (yes, THAT John Paul Jones), and Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) are recording in Los Angeles. Happy 40th Birthday, Kirk

Kari had a work function in Puerto Rico and managed to hop over to St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. and visit Kirk and Cara.

Coincidently, her visit was just before Kirk's 40th birthday. Happy Birthday Kirk! At this moment he is celebrating on St. John with Cara friends, and I sure can't blame Kari if she wishes she were still there. Kirk zipped her around on his little boat to some choice snorkeling spots around St. Thomas and St. John. (Little did he know that a party was being set up in his honor for later.)

Kirk also partook in his trademark hunting routine. He puts on his snorkels, mask, and gloves   read more »

Superclean Spotlight

Congratulations to several Superclean clients who have been tasting the spotlight lately.

Fellow Alamedan Matthew Anderson of Foresight Analytics was just quoted and named in The Economist magazine! That's a pretty big darned deal for a little research house based in Oakland. I especially like the article because I am so short Commercial Real Estate that I can walk under doors. (not investment advice.)

Smaller banks are exposed. Matthew Anderson of Foresight Analytics says that banks with assets between $100m and $10 billion hold commercial-property loans worth more than three times their total risk-based capital. Great Basin Bank, the 25th American bank to fail this year, was undone by heavy losses on commercial property. It will not be the last.

Meanwhile, Danny Barnes keeps showing up in the Dave Matthews Band...   read more »
